What is Space?

SPACE (Sphere of Practical and Creative Exploration), a benchmark initiative of Kumaraguru College of Liberal arts and Science, encompasses five student driven Liberal Arts Action Labs (Entrepreneurship Action Lab, Literary Action Lab, Research Action Lab, Social Design Action Lab, Visual Design Action Lab).

The labs would inculcate knowledge about the student’s specific passionate domain along with hands-on projects, expert conversations, online courses, hackathons, internships, master – classes, boot camps, organising intra- collegiate and inter- collegiate fests, initiating ‘Events for cause’ and participating in renowned events and conferences. Thus, learning would be leveraged by exploration, experimentation, engagement and finally, earning and henceforth learning is synonymous with fun. Along with the activities, collaborating with real world experts for their mentorship is so unique to the labs of SPACE. Each Action lab is headed by students from diverse backgrounds.

Social Design Action Lab

The Social Design Action Lab will help students design more human-centred, equitable and effective initiatives, services, and programs. The Lab is an intensive, hands-on opportunity to dive into and move forward with their own team or individual projects. Social design action lab is a container of social experiments for addressing complex ground- breaking social challenges on a systematic level.

Entrepreneurship Action Lab

Entrepreneurship Action Lab focusses the continuous and comprehensive real-world learning of businesses and startups. EAL helps the learners acquire relevant knowledge and skills to build an enterprise or lead their family business. Develop skillsets on their domain of interest.

Visual Design Action Lab

Visual Design Action Lab is a collaborative learning space for students, faculty and community to work together, as active partners, towards innovative solutions for local issues affecting our community. Visual design aims to improve a design’s/product’s aesthetic appeal and usability with suitable images, typography, space, layout and colour. Visual design is about more than aesthetics.

Reasearch Action Lab

Research Action Lab focusses on giving students ample exposure to doing and presenting research. Research is a field without which others would not be able to see great advancements. We do not want to follow footsteps and research upon known topics. We are striving to create new ones and lead the field.

Literary Action Lab

Literary Action Lab is a collaborative environment and platform to explore the world of literature in all forms ranging from short stories, poems theatre scripts to the translation of proper novels media stories, and columns.
