Recent Trends in Psychosocial Approach
The students from the Department of Psychology attended a workshop on the topic “Recent Trends in Psychosocial Approach” conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS). The three-day workshop began with introduction to the topic and a brief orientation about NIMHANS, theories and applications of the psychosocial approaches were discussed. The second day focussed on the psychosocial care in Disaster management.
Various topics like understanding disaster, the impact of disaster, the spectrum of care, normal and abnormal reactions and also techniques of psychosocial care were covered. The final day focussed on developing an understanding on various interventive areas of social work. Topics like psychosocial care of elderly and children, school mental health program through Corporate Service Responsibility, life skills education and family enrichment program were extensively covered. The workshop ended with a valedictory function certificating all the students participating in the workshop. Ms. Sanju T, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, KCLAS along with Dr. Emmanuel Daniel, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, KCLAS were the study visit faculty co-ordinators.
