Workshop on Financial Planning Using Excel - Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts & Science (KCLAS)

Department of Commerce organised a Workshop on “Financial Planning Using Excel” for the students of first year B. Com PA and B.Com on 27th September 2019. The resource person of the workshop was Mr.V.S.Binu, Financial Planning Consultant – ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Cochin. He is also an Independent Financial Adviser and Business Consultant at GTA Bosch Car Services and Bajaj Finserv & Shriram Finance, Cochin respectively. He has also been Faculty and NiSM Trainer teaching finance subjects like Securities Analysis & Portfolio Management, Strategic Financial Management, NISM Series V A, etc.

The session started with a welcome and introduction of Guest by Ms.Ankitha of I B.Com PA. The speaker commenced the session with the introduction of Time Value of Money. He explained the concepts by relating with the real examples of his own clients. He illustrated the calculation of Future value and Present Value under Lumpsum and Annuity Methods, Calculations of EMIs on loan, Sinking Fund and Escalated Price due to Inflation. The speaker explained this in a simplified manner. The speaker emphasized on the career options as a Financial Planner and explained about the NiSM & Certified Financial Planner (CFP) course. As a whole, the workshop was interesting and informative and it was well appreciated by students. The students were happy that they had acquired a new skill through this workshop.
