Ms.Shobana Kumar – Poet , Writer and Founder of Small Differences delivered a talk on Understanding the Transgender Community . It was held on January 09, 2020 between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. The session began with correcting the perspective of transgender by students. She went in detail about the various gender spectrums and also explained the working of the transgender community. She explained about how a transgender is taken up and developed into the persons we see in the society. She also discussed the life of a transgender, their rehabilitation to the society, obstacles faced and scope as students. Ms. Shobhana also shared her learnings and personal experiences that she gained with the journey of Small Differences. She shared the life story of a transgender whom she had come in contact with. The guest talk was attended by around 50 students from a variety of courses who were interested. The talk ended with an interactive session with students and a thank you note.
