Guest talk on Role of NABARD in Agricultural Development - Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts & Science (KCLAS)

Department of Commerce organized a guest talk on “Role of NABARD in Agricultural Development” by Dr. Vadivel Esakkimuthu District Development Manager, NABARD, Coimbatore on 19th August 2019 at KCLAS Seminar Hall.

Ms. Subitcha Bairavi .R of I B.Com welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest. Dr. Vadivel Esakkimuthu started the session with an introduction to types of farmers and issues in agriculture. He explained about the causes of failure of crops and the evolution of various revolutions to increase productivity. He gave an introduction to NABARD which was separated from RBI and established in the year 1982.

Dr. Esakkimuthu insisted on the importance of NABARD differentiating it from banks that accept deposits and lends money. He further briefly discussed the functions of NABARD with examples. He explained about the fund creation from profits that takes place in NABARD and also the necessity for a sustainable and equitable agriculture. He also mentioned the government policies that are framed in support of NABARD and the developmental activities of NABARD that would assist farmers in all aspects.

He encouraged students to be aware of the Union Budget and learn more about the agricultural development and take up NABARD exams. Students well received the session, and they found it very interesting and productive. Ms Poojana .S G of I B.Com proposed the vote of thanks.
