ASSISTANT PROFESSOR I

Introduction

Ms. Rhema Sharon J.X has an impressive educational background and a strong focus on gender Studies. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Jayamatha College, Palakkad. She then pursued her Master’s Degree at NGM College, Pollachi. Continuing her academic journey, she completed her M.Phil and Ph.D. at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore. Her research interests primarily revolve around Transgender Studies, where she conducted an in-depth investigation into the social, cultural, and psychological aspects of transgender identity. Her goal was to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on transgender experiences and promote greater understanding and acceptance of transgender individuals in society.

To achieve her research objectives, she employed a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews, surveys, and archival research. The qualitative interviews allowed her to gather personal narratives and explore the experiences of transgender individuals from diverse backgrounds. Simultaneously, she administered surveys to assess the general attitudes and perceptions towards transgender individuals within different populations. This mixed-methods approach provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the topic. For data analysis, thematic analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data collected from the interviews, helping to identify common themes and patterns within the narratives. In contrast, statistical techniques were employed for quantitative data analysis, allowing her to derive meaningful insights from the survey responses. Overall, Ms. Rhema’s research in Transgender Studies aimed to advance knowledge in the field and foster greater understanding and acceptance of transgender individuals in society.

Avid reader with a zeal for literature and an enthusiastic gardener with a passion for cultivating and nurturing plants. Dedicated to creating and maintaining aesthetically pleasing and sustainable outdoor spaces.

With a vision to foster a love for language, I aim to contribute to the intellectual and cultural development of individuals and communities. Through my studies, teaching, and writing, I aspire to explore the profound impact of English language and literature on society, challenge conventional perspectives, and ignite meaningful conversations. Ultimately, I envision a world where literature serves as a catalyst for empathy, understanding, and personal growth, enriching lives and shaping a more enlightened and interconnected society.

Inspiration in Life

My father has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my life. His unwavering work ethic, integrity, and commitment to excellence have shaped my values and instilled in me a strong sense of determination. Witnessing his dedication to his craft and his ability to overcome challenges has fuelled my own drive for success. He has taught me the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and continuous learning. His guidance has influenced my personal and professional growth, and I strive to emulate his qualities of leadership, empathy, and humility in all aspects of my life.
