Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS), School of Commerce, along with the Citizen Consumer Club of KCLAS and the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, hosted the National Conclave on “Fair and Responsible AI for Consumers” marking World Consumer Rights Day on March 15, 2024, .
Chief guest, Mr. R. Nehemiah, Deputy Commissioner & Consumer Protection Officer, delivered an insightful address on consumer protection in the digital era. Among the dignitaries were P. Subramanian, Coordinator, and R. Kumar, Advisor, both from Citizen’s Voice Coimbatore, bringing extensive insights from their roles in consumer advocacy. Their presence highlighted grassroots efforts in promoting consumer rights.Thiru R. Gunasekaran, the DSO (District Supply Officer) of Coimbatore, graced the occasion, showcasing governmental support for consumer protection initiatives.
The conclave successfully fostered awareness, collaboration and empowerment in navigating the evolving landscape of AI-driven consumer practices.
Various sessions followed, including panel discussions led by Mr. Sujith Sukumaran, Deputy Vice President Federal Bank, Mr. Krishna Mohan K S, Admin & Editor Newsletter, Consumer Advocacy Group Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Hariharan C P, Branch Head Sharekhan Ltd Coimbatore, Mr. Vetrivel C, Senior Internationalization Project Manager at Microsoft, Bengaluru and Dr. Leo Gertrude, Assistant Professor & Head of the Department of Visual Communication at KCLAS.
Simultaneously, the competition, “Cook without Fire,” engaged school students, with Mr. Padayal Shiva as the guest.
Approximately 130 participants from various schools and colleges actively participated in the event, enriching discussions and contributing to a comprehensive exploration of AI and consumer rights.
