Indian classical dances bring out the quintessential cultural ethos of the diverse regions of India. This programme offers practical training in the basics of classical dance forms and provides a holistic and integrated approach to understanding Indian performing arts through theory courses with seventy and thirty weightages for practical and theory percent. It combines the flexibility of distance and continuing education with conventional learning system, and provides for face-to-face interaction, for both theory and practice sessions.

Bhakti Natya Niketan (BNN), founded by Karuna Sagari, offers a comprehensive Bharatanatyam dance curriculum online and offline for students of different ages and levels in the Kalakshetra style. The lead trainer in the course Karuna Sagari has graduated with honours from the world-renowned performing arts institution, the Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai, in 2008. For 10 years, outstanding choreographer, Sheejith Krishna guided her in her pursuit of this dance form. Currently, she is under the mentorship of veteran danseuse, Malavika Sarukkai. She holds a Masters degree in South Asian Studies from the University of Heidelberg, Germany and a Masters degree in Tamil from Annamalai University.
Karuna is an Aikya Awardee (2013) presented with the title, ‘Women defending our Culture’ by Global Adjustments. She has been awarded with the Vasantalakshmi Narasimhachari Talent endowment award by the Narada Gana Sabha (Aug 2011). She is an ICCR Empanelled artist.
Blended Learning is a unique mode of learning which combines traditional, face-to-face classes as well as online materials. In this program, Blended Learning offers a merger of live classes as well as online course content, created by Bhakti Natya Niketan, to provide a more holistic & engaging learning experience and to allow the student to understand the artform more effectively.

The course shall extend over a period of 1 year in an Annual Pattern. Examinations shall be conducted at the end of the academic year for the respective subjects. The candidates admitted to this course would attend 210 hours per year to complete the course. The course includes study visits.
