Stepping onto the vibrant campus grounds of Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS), a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation filled my heart. College—a word that resonates with promises of new beginnings, enduring friendships, and thrilling academic adventures. With hope guiding my steps, I embarked on my first day, eager to discover the potential that awaited me at KCLAS.
On that initial day, the college welcomed us with “Swagatham,” an intriguing orientation session filled with insights, thoughts from our founders, and a glimpse into the reality of college life. The sprawling campus, adorned with towering buildings and lush greenery, resembled a city within itself. Little did we know that what we saw on that first day was just the tip of the iceberg, merely a fraction of what KCLAS had to offer.
The second day unfolded with us being sorted into different “bridges,” where I encountered fellow freshmen from diverse backgrounds and with startling interests. Instantly, it felt like I was becoming a part of a vibrant community, each member carrying unique stories and aspirations.
As a semester passed, navigating through the maze of academic buildings, it became apparent that there were still parts of Kumaraguru, awaiting exploration. The academic challenges were real, yet the sense of accomplishment derived from tackling them was equally tangible. We soon realized that the academic challenges are real, but in the sense of accomplishment that comes while working towards them.
Beyond the classroom walls, college life revealed itself as a tapestry woven with social interactions and extracurricular pursuits. Joining various clubs and verticals became a fantastic way to connect with like-minded individuals and explore interests beyond the academic realm. Whether it was the music club, Qubate, or a sports team, KCLAS had more to offer than I initially expected.
The competitions conducted by KCLAS turned out to be another pleasant surprise. From Hackathons to Model United Nations (MUNs), the college opened a new world of competitive attitudes. In just one semester, we realized that at Kumaraguru, we not only gained experience but also acquired knowledge simultaneously.
Reflecting on my initial weeks in college, gratitude fills me for the opportunities lying ahead. This journey isn’t solely about earning a degree; it’s a path of personal growth, embracing every single moment. One notable aspect that stands out is the efficiency of the management and faculty. In barely a week, we became comfortable with our professors, who went above and beyond to ensure every student felt noticed and heard. They recognized our talents, provided numerous opportunities, and fostered an environment conducive to continual growth.
It Becomes What You Believe – Interacting with friends from various departments brought forth a simple yet profound truth—Kumaraguru is what you make of it. Students praised KCLAS for different reasons, while others felt differently because of their choices. If you genuinely believe that KCLAS is where you want to be, the college will unveil its best aspects to you. The key is to go with the flow, embracing the journey with an open heart and mind.
