Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science and The Hindu In School jointly organized the Mentor’s Meet 2019 – A Workshop on the Future of School Education: Global and National Trends on August 28, 2019 at Taj Vivanta, Coimbatore. The workshop throw light on the reforms that will change the landscape of the school education system and was well attended by School Principals and Senior administrators. 144 school Administrators and principals from 112 schools actively participated in the workshop.
Dr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of Kumaraguru Institutions, in his presidential address highlighted the vision and objectives of the draft new education policy 2019 which is contributing to the transformation of our nation into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society, by providing high quality education to all. He outlined the significance of holistic education which will be life-building, man-making, character-making assimilation of ideas.
D. Suresh Kumar, Deputy Resident Editor, The Hindu, Chennai delivered the key note address. Mr. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent of Kumaraguru Institutions set the context for the workshop by stressing on the trends and importance of global education reforms. He also outlined the urgency of importance of moving forward to Education 2.0
Dr. Senthil Kumaran, Chief Confluencer and Co-Founder, Learner’s Confluence facilitated the awareness workshop on Educational reforms envisioned in the country through Draft NEP 19 in the structure, curriculum and governance. He also shared examples of best practices from Finnish education system. He emphasized on the need for a complete overhaul in design, implementation of curriculum, Teaching Learning Practices Teacher Quality, Assessments and governance of Schools in India. He was hopeful with the Draft National Education Policy 2019 and National Curriculum framework expected release next year the School Education in India would see huge transformation and the teacher would become more of a facilitator in the entire teaching-learning gamut and the School as a Social transformer.Dr. Vijila Kennedy, Principal of Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science welcomed the gathering.Mr. Shiva Kumar, DGM, Advertisements, The Hindu Coimbatore proposed the vote of thanks.
