Department of Political Science conducted a Guest Lecture on “INDIA- A $5 trillion economy, the road ahead”. Dr.S. Sangeetha, Associate Professor, KCT Business School, Coimbatore, was the resource person. Mr. Gawthaman M introduced the resource person and welcomed her.
She started the session with a question to get various perspectives regarding India. She continued to talk about the significance of the Indian economy in the international scenario with data related to GDP, Dollar reserves and Trade relations. It was a comprehensive talk about the current economic growth in India. Students actively participated in the discussion. The interaction continued with emphasis on the transformation of the Indian economy. The contribution of agriculture, industry and service sectors were thoroughly discussed in the session.
The resource person has successfully established a connection with the political and economic developments in India. The contributions of the present government through external engagements were highlighted in the session. The role of concepts like participatory governance, self-reliance, the impetus for entrepreneurship and global perspectives were covered in the discussion.
The goals of the central bank in boosting economic growth were a major point of discussion. Students could understand the significance of monetary policy and fiscal policy in driving the economic well-being of a nation. The role of schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, Digital India, Mudra Bank, Startup India and Stand up India, etc. was discussed. She concluded the session with the current economic system and the road ahead for achieving a $5 trillion economy. The discussion was followed by the question-answer session. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nesa.A.V (I BA Political Science).
